Winery review: “This thornfelder impresses with velvety softness, powerful body, pronounced fruit and intense ruby red color. With 30 years of experience, the German Wine Gate is the Dornfelder pioneer -- this you can taste from each drink," according to the front of the bottle (translated from German).
My review: This wine smells and tastes very fruity. I would recommend this red wine to anyone looking to gain a taste for red wines -- it is very drinkable and enjoyable! The fruit I'd used to describe it is more pomegranate, strawberry-like fruit. The velvet descriptor above likely comes from the mouth feel this wine gives you, which is super soft and smooth. Would drink this again!
I tasted this alone with no food.
